An acquaintance of mine has recently freaked me out. Let me list the ways.

I used to think that she was a dreamer. Now I think that she’s simply grandiose. I’m going to be rich. I could do that job so much better than her. If I was in charge…

Why do I think that her dreams won’t come true? Because she doesn’t want to work hard to get them.

I used to think that people victimized her.

And then I realized that she blames everyone else for scenarios she has created, by not showing up, or waking up, or bragging too much, or promising and then not delivering.

She makes friendships and then discards them, for petty reasons.

Why? Because there’s a disconnect. A lack of empathy. An inability to bond.

She’s promiscuous. Too many, too much.

And she’s angry. Accusations abound. He did that, and she did this, and they mount up until the rage explodes.

So I took all of these qualities and I told my sister, the therapist.

And she said, “Your friend is a sociopath. They’re the hardest to treat, in therapy.”

“What should I do?” I asked her.

“Run like the wind.”
